Ms. Shelandra Ann Kyles
Shelandra Ann Kyles, born and raised on the west side of Detroit was inspired at a young age to find ways to be inventive and creative. This led her to study Art at Wayne State University receiving a BA in Art taking advanced courses in Printmaking, Ceramics and Textile Arts. She continued on at Wayne State University to receive her MAT in Teaching. As an artist, Kyles’s esthetic is organic in nature and derives from the natural world where she believes repetition and pattern naturally exist in nature’s design and from there we have the ability to emphasize the beauty of what already exist around us. Kyles’s goal as a 5th year Art Instructor at University Prep Art and Design is to provide a broad multi-media experience for her students that promotes individual ideas through creative expression, thinking outside the box and using an artistic eye to look at, research and problem solve in a way that expresses a powerful and innovative student voice.
