Project Overview
In Photography 1, the Composition Project is the first opportunity for students to explore the Canon Rebel T5/T6 cameras that we utilize in the classroom. They start off by learning the exposure triangle and how to work the different functions of the camera. After that, we focus on how photographers make photographs by intentionally composing their work. Although all art students should use the elements and principles of art and design in all of their work, new photographers also have a few composition rules that they typically focus on to improve their work. These composition rules - Rule of Thirds, Leading Lines, Frame Within a Frame, Getting Close, Symmetry, Bird's Eye View, Bug's Eye View, and Positive/Negative Space - help students think critically as they are learning the parts of the camera.
