Crafts and Fibers 1 students are introduced to the basics of sewing. They learn a variety of stitches and explore embroidery and painting techniques. Students are forced to look at their identity and start to dissect and grow to become confident and vulnerable enough to share what holds value in their life. They start to develop their artistic voice by ideating symbols that represents What I Value. Through the curation of material selection, stitch length, variety in stitches, and color students push their sketches by transferring them onto fabric. They use variety (color hue or stitch weight) in order to truly communicate what they value.
