Crafts and Fibers Portfolio allows students to focus on their own artistic voice. Students had choice of medium to create a piece of artwork that represents a big idea/social issue. Research is conducted based off of a inspiring craft artist. They explore and dissect their making process through artist investigations, critiques and presentations. Students ideate and design a new piece of art that represents their chosen social issue and they select which craft technique will best execute their vision. They can choose from a variety of techniques learned in class such as mosaic, batik, dying, clay, weaving appliqué and painting on fabric. Students create 3 strong pieces of art that represents them as a craft artist.
