Project Overview
A huge project that we really enjoyed was our Mixed Media Likeness. We embarked on this self-portrait project by first taking selfies on classroom laptops. After printing those photos, we used our knowledge of contour line to trace our major facial features onto a material called acetate, which is a thin, clear plastic. We then began the process of creating our background, using a process called "Tissue Paper Painting," where the dye is transferred from tissue paper to another surface (white drawing paper in our case) using water. Students chose either a cool or warm color scheme, and filled their paper with color. The acetate was then attached to the background paper, finishing off the Mixed Media Likenesses!
