Project Overview
What is the difference between a self portrait and a selfie? There's been a ton of different articles comparing and contrasting the two, and our students certainly had a wealth of experience in the selfie side of the equation. Taking selfies is an integral part of our digital culture, but what transforms those images into something that truly represents who we are?
Photography 2 students created self portraits from three different prompts, each representing a different aspect of them: How You See Yourself, How Others See You, and Yourself Without You. Once created, students utilized different methods of presentation, from large scale printing to multiple alternative process photography techniques like hand sanitizer transfer, fabric print, hand coloring, gelatin tile transfer, and more.
Featured Student: Sarah Steverson, 12th Grade
