Project Overview
For many weeks during the school year, we explored watercolor paint in a process-driven environment. Process-driven means that we were not focusing on necessarily creating a finished piece that fit certain criteria; rather, we focused on what we could do with the paint, how we could learn from the paint itself, and what we could create by simply exploring. Along the way, we also experimented with a few watercolor techniques, including color mixing, splatter painting, and watercolor wax resist. Do to the free nature of this exploration, many pieces do not have names. Students were evaluated by in-class observation of their exploration, rather than a set outcome or rubric. Originally, this exploration was only supposed to span a week or so; instead, due to the enjoyment of the students, our Watercolor Exploration continued for close to a month.
Students: if you see a piece that says, "No Name," and it was created by you, please let me know ASAP so that you can have the proper credit for your work!
